Joe Alton Delaney
The Delaney 37 Foundation was created in the legacy of Joe Alton Delaney. Joe, an American football running back was born on October 30, 1958 in Henderson Texas. He attended Haughton High School, and Northwestern State University. In 1981 Joe was a 2nd round draft choice for the Kansas City Chiefs. He played two seasons for the Chiefs and was named AFC Rookie of the Year. On June 29, 1983 Joe lost his life while attempting to rescue three children from drowning in a pond in Monroe Louisiana.
The Mission of The Delaney 37 Foundation is to serve the youth. We strive to mentor, educate, promote leadership development, teach financial literacy, and promote water safety. We are creating opportunities that will build strong moral character as the youth transform into contributing citizens in the community.
